Good question

What’s a word or phrase that annoys you?

For me? It’s “It is what it is.”
Because no… sometimes it’s what we allow it to become.
Life throws things at us, sure. But we still have choices, growth, grit, and the ability to change direction. I’ve never been the kind of person to just shrug and surrender to a situation when there’s still a chance to learn, rebuild, fix it, or fight for better.
And the second one?
“Not my circus, not my monkeys.”
Now listen… I understand the meaning behind it. Not every problem belongs to us. Boundaries are healthy. But every time I hear it, I just think:
“Why are the monkeys catching strays in this conversation?” 🐒😂
The monkeys didn’t do anything wrong.
In all seriousness though, I think compassion matters. Even when a situation isn’t ours to carry, we can still choose kindness, empathy, or support without taking the whole tent down with us.
Maybe that’s just me.
I believe people have more power than they realize — to change outcomes, help others, grow through hard things, and make life better than “it is.”
So no… I’ll probably never love those sayings.
But I will smile politely when people use them and keep the conversation moving like a civilized adult. 😅
