Who are you most inspired by?
What inspires me most about Jefferson is that he faced challenges that might today be recognized as neurodivergent traits. Historians have suggested he may have struggled with dyslexia, yet he became one of the most gifted writers of his generation and was chosen to draft the Declaration of Independence.
He was known to be uncomfortable with public speaking and social situations, but instead of letting those difficulties define him, he found his own ways to communicate and lead. He approached problems differently, often creating innovative solutions and ideas that were ahead of his time.
As a homeschool mom raising neurodivergent children, I find that especially encouraging. Jefferson reminds me that our struggles do not determine our potential. With hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to think differently, we can overcome obstacles and make a meaningful impact on the world.
His example has taught me that there is a place for everyone, and that sometimes the qualities that make us different are the very things that help us succeed
