Homeschooling in our home is about preparing our children with the skills they need to succeed in life.
We are not focused on perfection or checking boxes. We are focused on building strong foundations — teaching our children how to think, how to learn, and how to grow into capable adults.
One of our biggest priorities is reading.
We push reading in our home because it opens the door to everything else. When a child can read well, they can learn anything. We encourage it daily, build routines around it, and challenge our kids to keep growing in their ability and confidence.
In our home, we use a simple learning block hour to keep things consistent and manageable. Instead of trying to do everything every day, we focus on one subject at a time during our learning block. Each subject is touched at least twice a week, which helps us stay on track without overwhelming our days.
This system has helped us create a rhythm that works for our family. It gives each subject real attention while still allowing flexibility for real life. My husband and I also use this time to study our own subjects or get work done while we are teaching our kids together. It has become a time of learning and growth for the whole family.
We also believe in meeting each child where they are. Every child learns differently, and some need more structure and routine to succeed. This has been especially important in our home, where having a steady rhythm helps create peace and stability in our daily life.
Homeschooling has stretched me in ways I did not expect. I am learning patience, flexibility, and how to teach in a way that actually reaches my kids. I am growing right alongside them.
At the center of it all is our faith. We believe that we are called to raise our children with intention — to teach them not only knowledge, but character, discipline, and purpose.
We are not a perfect homeschool family. But we are a family that shows up, works hard, and keeps moving forward.
We are not trying to do everything every day — we are focused on doing the right things consistently.
