🌱 Our Garden Journey (Growing a Little More Each Year)

Our garden has never been big—but it’s always been growing.

We started with just two garden beds, not really knowing what we were doing, just hoping something would grow. That first year… we got nothing. No harvest, no big success—just a lot of learning.

But we didn’t quit.

The next year, we expanded to more beds and tried again. This time, we actually saw some return, which felt like a huge win. But it also came with a headache—figuring out watering, keeping plants alive in the Texas heat, and realizing how quickly costs can add up when you’re trying to grow your own food.

Now here we are, with eight garden beds and even more plans ahead.

This year, we’re focusing on being smarter, not just bigger.

We’re looking for ways to cut down on watering costs, because in our climate, that’s one of the biggest challenges. We’re also starting something new—using food that’s going bad in our kitchen and giving it a second life.

Instead of throwing it away, we’re:

  • composting what we can
  • and planting what we can regrow

It’s our way of recycling food and stretching it further—turning scraps into something that can feed us again.

We also added things like sunflowers, not just because they’re beautiful, but because they bring life into the garden and make the space feel full and alive.

Our garden isn’t perfect. It’s messy, it’s a learning process, and some seasons are better than others—but every year, it grows a little more… and so do we.
