Faith on the Homestead

There was a time when I didn’t think I’d be here.
Not in a garden, not raising animals, not building a life that feels so deeply rooted in something bigger than myself. This life didn’t come all at once—it came in small steps, quiet decisions, and moments where I had to trust without fully seeing the outcome.
When we first started, it wasn’t about creating something beautiful. It was about surviving, learning, and figuring things out one day at a time. A few chickens here. A garden bed there. Mistakes, plenty of them. Days where nothing seemed to grow, and days where I questioned if any of it was worth it.
But somewhere in the middle of all that… something changed.
I started to see the rhythm of it all.
The way seeds don’t rush.
The way growth happens underground before anyone ever sees it.
The way patience isn’t optional—it’s required.
And slowly, I realized… this wasn’t just about homesteading.
It was about faith.
Not the loud kind. Not the kind you announce.
But the quiet kind—the kind you live.
The kind that shows up when you plant something and trust it will grow.
When you care for animals every single day, even when it’s hard.
When you build a home not just with your hands, but with intention.
This life has taught me that faith isn’t separate from what we do—it’s woven into it.
It’s in the early mornings.
It’s in the work no one sees.
It’s in choosing to keep going, even when things feel uncertain.
We don’t have it all figured out. Not even close.
But we’re learning to be rooted.
Rooted in the land.
Rooted in our family.
And most importantly, rooted in something that doesn’t change when everything else does.
This homestead isn’t perfect.
It’s not always easy.
But it’s ours. And it’s growing.
And so are we.
